What were the greatest accomplishments of JFK’s presidency? Why? Which one was the most important? Why? What were his biggest challenges and failures? Why? What was JFK’s biggest failure? Why? To what extent was JFK a great president? Why?

The greatest accomplishments of JFK’s presidency include his successful “New Frontier” goals, the establishment of the Peace Corps, and diffusing the tense missile crisis in Cuba. These were his greatest accomplishments because they all had a lasting impact and solidified his legacy. The “New Frontier” goals were the most important because they helped raise the minimum wage, increase social security benefits, develop impoverished rural areas,  fund research for mental illness, and contribute to the Civil Rights Movement. His biggest challenges and failures were the unsuccessful “New Frontier” goals and failing to support trained Cuban exiles against Fidel Castro at the Bay of Pigs. These were his biggest failures because he wasn’t able to accomplish all of his goals domestically and in Cuba. JFK’s biggest failure was his failure to provide air support at the Bay of Pigs because it the Cuban exiles were greatly defeated and the US was remarkably embarrassed. I think JFK was a great president to a large extent because he achieved great successes and was believed in by the American public.

What were the greatest accomplishments of LBJ’s presidency? Why? Which one was the most important? Why? What were his biggest challenges and failures? Why? What was LBJ’s biggest failure? Why? To what extent was LBJ a great president? Why?

The greatest accomplishments of LBJ’s presidency include the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, and the “war on poverty.” These were his greatest accomplishments because they had great social and economic impacts.
His most important accomplishment was his “war on poverty” because it was followed by various programs under the “Great Society.” His biggest challenges and failures were the Vietnam War and failure to seek a second term as president. These were his biggest challenges and failures because they tainted his presidency and undermined his goals. LBJ’s biggest failure was the Vietnam War because it brought low approval ratings for LBJ, which led him to withdraw from the presidential race for a potential second term. LBJ was a great president to a large extent because he finished out JFK’s term by enacting the programs JFK supported and defining his own term as a “war on poverty.”

What were the greatest accomplishments of Nixon’s presidency? Why? Which one was the most important? Why? What were his biggest challenges and failures? Why? What was Nixon’s biggest failure? Why? To what extent was Nixon a great president? Why?

The greatest accomplishments of Nixon’s presidency include his foreign policy and space exploration. These were his greatest accomplishments because they were successful in easing tensions in the Soviet Union and China and made progress in space.
The most important one was his foreign policy with Triangular Diplomacy and detente because they both improved the US’ relationship with the Soviet Union and China.
His biggest challenges and failures include Watergate and his consequential resignment. These were his greatest failures because they tainted his reputation and negated all of his achievements. His biggest failure was definitely Watergate because it led the American public to distrust him and eventually led to his resignation. Nixon was a great president to a small extent because he did have some great accomplishments, especially with foreign policy, but his involvement in the Watergate scandal negatively impacted his legacy.

The major movements during the 1960s and 1970s include the Modern Feminist Movement, the Reproductive Rights Movement, the Equal Rights Movement, the Environmental Reform Movement, and movements by Native, Mexican, and Gay Americans. The Modern Feminist Movement was trying to change the perception of the traditional role of women. The Reproductive Rights Movement was trying to solve the unequal consequences of sexual relations for men and women. The Equal Rights Movement was trying to solve the inequality of women to men under the law. The Environmental Reform Movement was trying to preserve the earth. The movements by Native, Mexican, and Gay Americans were trying to achieve equality with other Americans. The Modern Feminist Movement attempted to solve their problem with the creation of the National Organization for Women. The Reproductive Rights Movement attempted to solve their problem with the creation of the birth control pill. The Equal Rights Movement attempted to solve their problem with the Equal Rights Amendment. The Environmental Reform Movement attempted to solve their problem by creating Earth Day and the proposal of various Environmental Protection Acts. The movements by Native, Mexican, and Gay Americans attempted to solve their problem by protesting and rioting.
The Modern Feminist Movement was successful to a large extent because it united women and gave them more rights. The Reproductive Rights Movement was successful to a large extent because women could now control whether or not they got pregnant. The Equal Rights Movement was not successful because the Equal Rights Amendment was not ratified. The Environmental Reform Movement was successful to a small extent because many Acts passed but the environment is still in danger today. The movements by Native, Mexican, and Gay Americans were successful to a small extent because they received a few rights but are still discriminated against. I think the Modern Feminist Movement was the most successful because it consisted of the creation of the NOW, consisted of the Reproductive Rights Movement, and the rights for abortion with the Roe v. Wade decision.
I think the Equal Rights Movement was the least successful because it failed to achieve its goal of adding the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution.
